Well, I’m in the Lake of the Ozarks for the weekend at the AAF District 9 Leadership Retreat. I’m here as part of the AAF-Topeka Board, and we’re meeting with other Ad Club chapters in the 5-state region.
We’ve spent time discussing ways to increase membership, setup great programs and discussing successful ADDY events. But for the most part, we’re just enjoying each other’s company and the cool resort (Tan-Tar-A). It’s a great opportunity to network with other clubs and build long-lasting bonds with our fellow board members.
The District 9 Board always sets up a really nice hospitality room, fully stocked with snacks and any type of beer or hard liquor you could want. I had really been looking forward to that part all year, until about a month ago when I found out I was pregnant … Now it’s just not quite the same. In fact, it’s been a hard adjustment for me. Especially hard since it’s not really slowed Brandon’s party status down at all. It’s not like I drank much before, but not being able to participate at all isn’t very fun.
