Enjoy Some Wine and a Great Cause
Make plans for a night on the town next Friday, August 1st, in Topeka!
Not only will there be some special features on display at the First Friday Art Walk, but there’s also Grape Escape 2008 – A Toast to the Arts! And both events feature an original Alissa Sheley acryilc on plexiglass painting!
I’ve donated a tryptic piece called "Fiesta" (pictured left) for Grape Escape, where it will be auctioned off to benefit the Topeka Performing Arts Center. The event itself is a ton of fun, with all attendees getting the opportunity to sample over 100 different varieties of wine from all around the world and snack on finger foods provided by local caters and restaurants. I attended last year’s event and had a wonderful time!
You can also get a preview of some artwork that will be up for bids at this year’s Works of Heart on Saturday, August 22, benefiting Family Service & Guidance Center. The preview will be on display at Warehouse 414, where you’ll be able to see my "Paradise".

Big Changes at A-Sheley Studio
As of the end of of July, my studio will no longer be located at 2320 SW Eveningside Drive. We’re packing up and moving to a much larger home located in southwest Topeka, where I will have a large room for my studio with tons of natural light! I’ve spent the last few weeks making arrangements and slowing packing all of my art supplies in preparation for the move.
You might be wondering what motivated the change of location. Well, it was a little more than wanting additional natural light … it’s also to accommodate the growing A-Sheley Studio family. In early 2009, my husband and I will be having our first child!
Check back to see updates on the new studio setup. Look for photos, and hopefully some new paintings … as soon as I’m able to get settled in.

Town Art Fair – Father's Day Weekend
Next weekend I will be in Leawood showing my acrylic on plexiglass artwork at the 10th Annual Town Art Fair.
It will be my third year at this show, and I’m really looking forward to it. My booth will be on the east side of the Fair this year, on the side of Express, which will be an interesting change. The past two years I have been in front of Victoria’s Secret, which I’ve liked because it seemed to ensure a lot of traffic. This year, I’m not really sure …? I know that I have to arrive to set up my booth about 5 hours earlier than in years past – 8 am.
Typically I wouldn’t like the idea of having to arrive and setup my booth 8 hours before the show opens. But I’ve decided to really embrace it, so Brandon and I are going to get a hotel the night before so we’re already in the city. It will be like a mini vacation this way. And we’re renting a SUV – hopefully a gas-efficient one!
If you don’t have plans, stop by and check out the action! I’ll be at Booth #213.
Town Art Show is at Town Center Plaza, 19th and Roe.

Thank You Greenwave!
This year’s 5th Annual Concealed Revealed Art Auction brought in a record amount of funds raised for the YWCA Battered Women Task Force, over $6,000! The Greenwave Electric, Inc. guys showed up in full force to support the charity, and set off quite a bidding war. They ended up as highest bidders on my painting, Sun Valley. I think that piece will be the perfect fit for their office – they are all about being environmentally friendly with their electrical services business.
