A Blog for the Baby

How does a techie, internet geek, like my sweet husband Brandon, show that he’s excited about becoming a daddy? He starts a blog for his unborn child!

That’s right. It’s our official baby communication portal to the world! Check it out: baby.sheley.org.

Breaking the News

Onesies for the Grandparents

Since Brandon and I had been talking about having a baby for awhile, we’d had a lot of time to think about how we’d break the happy news our parents. This baby will be the first grandchild on both sides of the family, so we knew the announcement needed to be special.

As soon as the last test came back positive, I immediately went shopping and purchased a 5-pack of onesies and some fabric markers. Then I got started decorating – “I love Grandma M.” and “I love Grandma & Grandpa G.”

I wrapped the onesies up with a little congratulations card and put it in a UPS package overnight to my parents, who were in Pennsylvania for my dad’s work, and to Brandon’s mom, who was down in Texas with Brandon and his grandma.

Needless to say, both packages were met with great surprise and lots of joy … and I spent a lot of time that night on the phone confirming the good news!

Baby on Board

It’s official as of Tuesday, I’m pregnant! Baby Sheley will be joining us in late February or early March … still to early to tell.

As you can probably imagine, both of our families are absolutely ecstatic! I suppose it probably helps that our baby will be the first grandchild on both sides of the family. : )
